GCP Travel Grants 2008: Call for Applications

GCP is pleased to announce the 2008 call for applications for the Travel Grants Programme. By providing training to developing country scientists to advance research, the Programme is designed to foster and strengthen links within and across GCP projects.

Target and scope
The Programme is for scientists in developing country national research programmes working at—or collaborating with—a GCP Consortium member institution. The grantee may be requested to visit a GCP Consortium institution, a collaborating institution, or an independent advanced research institution for hands-on training related to concepts and/or techniques useful, or necessary, for advancing GCP research.

Please note that this call does not support conference, course or symposium participation.

Eligibility:

1) Applicants must be from a developing country
institution (NARS or Academia) based in any of the GCP Priority Farming Systems (for the list of countries, please click here). The institution must be either a member of the GCP Consortium or collaborating with a GCP Consortium member. Preference will be given to applicants engaged in current GCP projects.

2) The applicant's home institution must be engaged in research related to any of the
GCP Subprogramme 1-4 activities and on any one of the GCP priority crops (rice, wheat, chickpea, maize, millet, sorghum, groundnut, cowpea, cassava, potato, sweet potato, barley and beans).

3) Applicants must justify the objectives of the travel as well as the expected benefits to their research and home institution.

Application deadline: 31st January 2008
