Capacity-building à la carte Programme - 2nd call for proposals now open (2008)  - NOW CLOSED

Please note that this call is now closed. The below is for information only.

December 2007

Application deadline: 31st January 2008

GCP’s Subprogramme 5 invites proposals for its Capacity-Building à la Carte Programme. Following on from the first successful call in 2007, the grant scheme seeks to identify and provide tailored capacity-building to teams working on applied research in developing countries. Winning teams will significantly benefit from short-term personalised training and support.

Winning teams will each develop a customised plan comprising formal training at academic institutions and/or through GCP events; mini-grants for equipment; hands-on research opportunities in advanced research institutions; and in-situ assistance by technical experts.

Eligibility
The programme mainly targets non-GCP Consortium members (e.g. non-profit research programmes in developing countries), particularly those engaged in ongoing GCP projects.

Selection criteria

  • Proposals must clearly address the purpose of this call as outlined in the call for proposals below
  • Programme funds must be fully dedicated to capacity needs. Any related research activities shall be covered by the associated ongoing project, or by the iteam’s institution (as in-kind contribution, which is proof of commitment to long-term engagement).
  • The proposal must present evidence of application of GCP research outputs for impact on the selected crop and target region.
Important elements in winning proposals will include:

• Feasibility (potential to achieve objectives and deliver outputs)--see GCP's Delivery Strategy and template for the project Delivery Plan Kit (DPKit) here
• Potential impact on plant breeding
• Strength of, and rationale for, the partnership
