legume diversity ciat webA Stakeholder consultation and planning workshop for the Tropical Legumes III Project – the proposed successor to both Tropical Legumes I and Troopical Legumes II (TLI and TLII projects) – opened its doors today in Nairobi, Kenya, at the Laico Regency Hotel.

Ending on 21st March, this workshop aims to jointly refine, consolidate and incorporate the views of partners and stakeholders, with a view to working out the practicalities of project implementation. Anticipated specific outputs are:

  1. Arriving at a common understanding of lessons learnt from TLI and TLII, and on the draft proposal for Tropical Legumes III
  2. Validation of the draft proposal, and elaboration of practical implemention challenges, and attendant solutions
  3. Concrete implementation arrangements for effective delivery of the project outputs and outcomes
  4. Way forward to finalisation and approval of the TLIII proposal.

A preparatory precursor meeting on  TLI–TLII integration had been previously held nearly a year ago, in May 2013.

TLI is led by GCP, while TLII is led by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT). Both TLI and TLII are funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to which the TLIII proposal will also be submitted.

We'll be posting some of the presentations from the 2014 meeting on SlideShare as we receive them.
