Genotyping Support Service: 2 nd call for proposals now open
We are very pleased to announce our 2nd call for Genotyping Support Service proposals, in coordination and collaboration with the Global Crop Diversity Trust and the Global Partnership Initiative for Plant Breeding Capacity Building (GIPB).
GCP’s Genotyping Support Service (GSS) facilitates access by national agricultural research systems (NARS) to genotyping technologies, providing a much-needed bridge between laboratory and field research worldwide. GSS can be considered as an ‘all-inclusive package’ that offers cost-efficient genotyping services, providing access to data and support (which builds local capacity), and including training for proper interpretation of genotype and phenotype data to assist modern plant breeding in developing countries.
Submissions for this second call are from 1 July–31 August 2008. More
African Scientists Fellowship Programme
From Cornell University’s Institute for Genomic Diversity (IGD), this six-month fellowship for African nationals funds training in plant genetic diversity, biodiversity conservation, molecular-marker-assisted crop improvement or related areas.

Huazhang Agricultural University and Bioversity International Scholarship Programme
This 18–24-month scholarship is for a post-doctoral programme on molecular characterisation for use of genetic resources.
Application deadline: 31 August 2008. More
