1.  GCP Annual Research Meeting 2007

The Generation Challenge Programme’s 2007 Annual Research Meeting will be on 12–16 September, held in Africa for the first time. Please note that participation is strictly by invitation only, and the invitation has to come directly from the Generation Challenge Programme. The ARM will be followed by the kick-off meeting, from 18–22 September, of the new project on ‘Improving tropical legumes for marginal environments in sub-Saharan Africa’. More details

 

2.  Recruitment and staff changes

Applications for SP2 Leader: Closed call to Consortium members

GCP invites applications for a Leader for our Subprogramme 2 on Comparative genomics for gene discovery. This is not an open call: the SP2 leader must be from a member institution of the GCP Consortium. Closing date for receiving applications is 18th June 2007. Staff changes

Catherine Durbin is the new GCP Communications Assistant, taking over Kaitlin Lesnick, who has left GCP to pursue a different professional line. We wish Kaitlin well in her future endeavours.. Kate, of British nationality, took up the position on 14 May 2007. She has a degree in French and Hispanic Studies from the University of Nottingham and a diploma in Public Relations. Kate brings to GCP her natural passion for communications in the non-profit sector. Please join us in welcoming her to the Generation Challenge Programme. You can reach Kate at c.durbin@cgiar.org

 

Carmen de Vicente, GCP Subprogramme Leader for Capacity-building and enabling delivery (SP5), has relocated from CIAT in Cali, Colombia, to GCP Headquarters at CIMMYT in Mexico. Her new mailing address and telephone contact in Mexico are here but her email remains unchanged.

ACE award for GCP’s Research Highlights 2005

We are proud to announce that our Research Highlights 2005 has been awarded a gold medal for its writing by the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences. Special congratulations to the writers and editors involved—Jennifer Nelson, former GCP Communications Manager, Peter Fredenburg and David Poland.
