Rice - Phenotyping

Phenotyping for yield potential and drought tolerance (Work package 2)

This work package has two objectives: developing phenotyping facilities and then phenotyping MARS populations and genetic stocks developed during GCP Phase I for yield potential and for drought tolerance.

The phenotyping process will consist of three components, each performed under specific experimental conditions:

  1. Yield and yield components under favourable water conditions, measured at the field level during the rainy season (alpha lattice design with two replications);
  2. Yield and yield components under drought stress, measured in a dry-down experiment  conducted at the field level during the dry season (alpha lattice design with two reps);
  3. Yield, yield components, secondary traits and new tools and methods for drought tolerance, measured in a dry-down experiment conducted under controlled conditions.
