From attractiveness to feasibility: A strategic assessment of the capacity to develop and adopt GCP technologies
Study still in progress
While previous socio-economic studies have targeted priority farming systems for GCP efforts, the extent to which the region can adapt and adopt such technological advances must be assessed if GCP efforts are to achieve maximum results. This study seeks to identify capacity issues and determine whether GCP technologies are both attractive and feasible for end users.
First, researchers will integrate data from multiple sources regarding money spent on agricultural research, infrastructure (roads, irrigation, electrification), agricultural extension programs, number of scientists, etc. to determine the capacity of local farming systems to adapt and implement GCP developments. Second, researchers will determine the capacity of farmers to successfully adopt the technologies in a productive way. As a starting point for future capacity building efforts, this study will focus on five small country case studies.
A brief for this study will be available in due course.
