The Genotyping Support Service

The Genotyping Support Service (GSS) facilitates access by developing-world agricultural research and development organisations to genotyping technologies, providing a much-needed bridge between laboratory and field research. GSS  is an ‘all-inclusive package’ that offers world-class cost-efficient genotyping services, including support and training in analysis for proper interpretation of genotypic and phenotypic data, all of which build local capacity.

GSS assists developing-country scientists to benefit from the latest technologies by subcontracting genotyping work, and by undertaking the intricacies of the legal issues, as well as the administrative procedures.

Initiated in 2006, the first three calls (2007, 2008 and 2009) were open. Thereafter, beginning 2010, GCP changed its GSS strategy to focus on developing-country partners already involved in GCP’s Research Initiatives or other projects related to capacity building.
